An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 on the Richter scale was recorded 297 kilometers east of Rodrigues shortly after midnight, more precisely around 12:10 am on Thursday 9th August. Earthquakes are legions in places where there is a separation of two tectonic plates. We cannot predict such phenomena,” explained Avinash Dookhee, forecaster at Vacoas weather station on Radio Plus.
