Plusieurs routes de la capitale sont concernées par des restrictions ce jeudi 7 janvier de 9 h 00 à 13 h 00. C’est ce qu’a indiqué la police dans un communiqué émis mercredi après-midi 6 janvier.
Ces restrictions et déviations routières interviennent ce jeudi alors que le ministre du Commerce, Yogida Sawmynaden, comparaît au tribunal de Port-Louis dans le sillage de la Private Prosecution déposée contre lui par Simla Kistnen.
Plusieurs déviations sont donc prévues notamment vers le Champ-de-Mars et certaines routes seront fermées à la circulation. Les rues Pope Hennessy, Lislet Geoffroy et Labourdonnais, entre autres, sont concernées par ces interdictions et déviations.
Voici le communiqué de la police :
POLICE NOTICE
By virtue of authority conferred upon me by Section 25(3) of the Police Act and Section 181 of the Road Traffic Act, unless otherwise decided by Police, traffic arrangements as hereunder will be made in Port Louis, on Thursday 7th January, 2021, from 0900 hrs to 1300 hrs.
2. Control access for pedestrians
No unauthorised persons will be allowed access along the undermentioned streets:-
(i) Lislet Geoffroy Street as from its junction with La Poudrière Street up to that
with Church Street;
(ii) Pope Hennessy Street as from its junction with George Guibert Street to that with Labourdonnais Street;
(iii) Georges Guibert Street from its junction with La Poudrière Street up to Pope Hennessy Street;
(iv) Dauphine Street from its junction with Pope Hennessy Street up to that with
Mgr Gonin Street; and,
(v) Along Sir Virgil Naz to Dauphine Street.
3. Closed Roads for vehicular traffic (from 0900 hrs to 1300 hrs)
(a) Pope Hennessy Street as from its junction with George Guibert Street up to
that with Labourdonnais Street, except for vehicles emerging from Suffren
Street which will be diverted towards Champ De Mars; and,
(b) Lislet Geoffroy Street as from its junction with La Poudriere Street up to that with Church Street.
4. Traffic Diversion for light vehicles (from 0900 hrs to 1300 hrs)
(i) Vehicles coming from Labourdonnais Street and proceeding towards SSR Street and the City Centre will, on reaching junction of Labourdonnais Street and Pope Hennessy Street, be diverted into GMD Atchia Street and Eugene
Laurent Street;
(ii) Vehicles coming from SSR Street and Maillard Street and proceeding
towards Champ De Mars, will be diverted into Dauphine Street or into George Guibert Street;
(iii) Vehicles motoring along Gonin Street will not be allowed to turn right into
Lislet Geoffroy Street and will be diverted towards D’Estaing Street;

(iv) Vehicles coming from Church Street will, on reaching junction Church
Street and Lislet Geoffroy Street, be diverted on contraflow on Lislet Geoffroy Street towards Eugene Laurent Street; and,
(v) Vehicles coming from Suffren Street will, on reaching its junction with Pope Hennessy Street, be diverted towards Labourdonnais Street.
5. Route Buses
(i) Route buses coming from Labourdonnais Street and proceeding towards Plaine Verte will, on reaching junction of Labourdonnais with Pope Hennessy Streets, be diverted towards D’Estaing Street and Eugene Laurent
Street; and,
(ii) Route buses coming from SSR Street and proceeding towards Labourdonnais
Street will, on reaching junction SSR Street and Gonin Street, be diverted into Gonin Street towards D’Estaing Street.
6. No Parking Zone (from 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs)
(i) Lislet Geoffroy Street from its junction with Pope Hennessy Street to its
junction with Eugene Laurent Street;
(ii) Pope Hennessy Street as from its junction with Labourdonnais Street to its
junction with George Guibert Street; and,
(iii) Gonin Street as from its junction with SSR Street to that with D’Estaing Street.
7. Reverse Traffic
Lislet Geoffroy Street as from its junction with Church Street will carry traffic on contraflow in the direction of Eugene Laurent Street.
8. Judicial Proceedings
Non compliance with these traffic arrangements will entail judicial proceedings.
