Anne Murielle Ravina Crowned Miss University Of Mauritius 2016

She is currently the most famous and elegant young lady on campus. Anne Murielle Ravina, former Miss Rodrigues, was crowned Miss University of Mauritius (UOM) 2016 on October 7th.

She is only 21-years old but she has already been crowned four times in pageant competitions. Anne Murielle Ravina, from Pointe Canon, Rodrigues and a student of Political Science (with a specialization in International Relations) student at the University of Mauritius was crowned as Miss University of Mauritius (UOM) 2016 at the Paul Octave Wiehe Auditorium at the University of Mauritius on the 7th October. The young lady was also elected Miss Telegenic. 

Miss Rodrigues 2012, Anne Murielle Ravina has a real zeal for modeling. It is only at age 15 that she won her first crown. She was elected Miss Marmite des Iles and a year later, she was first runner up of the Miss Ebony pageant competition in Rodrigues. Encouraged by her friends and relatives to pursue her passion, Murielle was elected Miss Rodrigues at the age of 16. The beauty queen even distinguished herself amongst the Miss Mauritius finalists by winning the titles of Miss Sirene, Miss Talent and Miss Sports. For Murielle, modeling is a way to express her numerous talents.  She trusts that her crowns may also help to open doors for social work. 

The three hour Miss UOM event was hosted by members of the University of Mauritius Alumni Florian Roussety, Shu Gujadhur and Damien Khilla. The show saw the performance of Ankur Dance Group, UOM Dance Club, Askaben Group, Winner of Rays Club cover song competition 2015, Hans Veerapaten and singer Jeremy Chan. The Jury panel consisted of the Director of Wedding Magazine and Olala Events, Meera Ramchurn, Former Miss Mauritius 2011, Miss Universe Mauritius 2012, Miss International Mauritius 2012, and Miss International Congeniality, Ameeksha Dilchand and Mauritian Psychologist Sarvesh Dussoye.

Throughout the Miss UOM contest, the beauty queens represent different faculties competed in four categories, namely Summer Wear, Saree and Traditional Wear, Evening Gown and a final round of questions and answers. The highlight of the event was the crowning of Miss UOM 2016 by South African beauty, Miss UOM 2015, Daniella Smit from the Law and Management faculty.

The Miss UOM 2016 prize package includes: an evening gown by Fashion Studio, Accessories by Reserve Natu-relle, shoes from Bata, summer wears from Citadel, jewellery sets by Tropical Miss. Moreover, the winner gets a chance to participate in the regional competition that is Miss Uni-versity Africa. The Miss UOM’s main objective is to find a group of students who will fight against the scourges of society, providing a platform for female students and for the realisation of ideas and concepts through various events.
