Thai Poosam Cavadee: Devotees pay tribute to Lord Muruga

On Thursday, Thai Poosam Cavadee festival was celebrated in grand pomp around the island to commemorate the victory of good over evil. Cavadee is a physical burden through which the devotees implore for help from Lord Muruga. The carrying of cavadee symbolises the carrying of one’s burden and resting it at the feet of the deity.
