The Mauritius Police Force celebrates its 250 years on 1st August 2017. Since decades, the Mauritius Police Force is in continuous service to the nation in terms of safety and security. In view of this landmark event, a series of activities are being planned. The kickoff ceremony of the event was held at the Line Barracks on Tuesday 13 June 2017 at 1145 hours with the lighting of a Torch “Flambeau” which was followed by a march carrying the theme “MARCH FOR HONOUR AND PRIDE”. A relay by Police Officers starting from Line Barracks will halt at all Police Stations rallying all Divisions including Rodrigues till the D-Day on 1st August. The march also constitutes an opportunity to raise fund which will be credited to the account of the Trust Fund for the vulnerable groups.
In his speech, the Commissioner of Police, Karl Mario Nobin, reminded guests present at the Line Barracks that ‘we are only 50 days away from 250th anniversary of Mauritius Police Force which will be celebrated on 01 of August this year.’ The event would indeed be a historic milestone for all of us as ‘this torch represents 250 years of dedication and pursuance of common goals ". The commissioner added that ‘the primary endeavour of the Mauritius Police Force has been to build a crime-free society. For past two and a half centuries, we have been thriving to create the necessary environment, where our people can enjoy a dignified and prosperous life. Throughout its 250 years of existence, the Police have as their ultimate goal the ''safety and security of one and all''.
