Maritime concerns

Indian Naval Ship Tarkash, part of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet, arrived in Port Louis on 3 July 2017, on a three-day goodwill visit to Mauritius.

Indian Naval ships are deployed in the Indian Ocean in consultation with concerned countries to address the main maritime concerns of the region, including piracy, assistance with hydrographic survey, search and rescue, EEZ surveillance, humanitarian aid and capability-building. During the visit, the crew of INS Tarkash will also interact with the officers of the Mauritius National Coast Guard. A reception was given on-board INS Tarkash, on the evening of 4 July 2017 in the presence of the Vice-President of Mauritius, Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, Shri. Shiv Chandra Ram, Minister of Arts, Culture & Youth, Government of Bihar and Shri Jai Kumar Singh, Minister of Industries, Government of Bihar, who are currently on a visit in Mauritius. The goodwill visit of INS Tarkash will help to further strengthen India-Mauritius maritime cooperation.
