Coffres-forts : Ramgoolam face à un nouveau procès, lisez le jugement

Les juges Iqbal Maghooa et Renuka Dabee ont accédé, ce mardi matin, aux points d'appel du Directeur des Poursuites Publiques (DPP). Cela, dans le cadre de l'appel interjeté par le DPP contestant l'acquittement de l'ancien premier ministre Navin Ramgoolam devant la Cour intermédiaire, le 15 novembre 2019, dans l'affaire des coffres-forts.

Les juges ont ordonné un nouveau procès devant la Cour intermédiaire.

Le DPP contestait l’acquittement de l’ex-Premier ministre, Navin Ramgoolam dans l’affaire des coffres-forts.

Navin Ramgoolam était poursuivi sous 23 accusations de « limitation of payment in cash » en Cour intermédiaire. Cela, pour avoir accepté Rs 63, 8 millions en espèces en six ans, soit du 31 janvier 2009 au 7 février 2015. Le 15 novembre 2019, la Cour intermédiaire avait rayé les accusations. Le DPP avait interjeté appel.

«We find that all the grounds of appeal are well taken. We accordingly allow the appeal, quash the Ruling of the learned Magistrates and remit the matter to the Intermediate Court for the case to be heard on the merits before a differently constituted Bench as both Magistrates who delivered the Ruling in the present matter are now posted at the Attorney General’s Office», écrivent les juges.
