Summer School Holidays : Ongoing enjoyment

 Gardening courses with SensiBio


SensiBio is offering gardening courses for kids as from the age of seven. The courses will take place at Péréybère. On 27th and 28th November, children will have the opportunity to learn how to create their own organic garden. The activity will take place from 8am to 12pm. On 30th November and 1st December, the theme of the course will be ‘From Seed to Plate.’ The course will take place from 8am to 12pm. Price is Rs1,700 per child.  Holiday Henna Workshop

You want to learn the arts of henna application and henna tattoo? Register now for certified courses. The Certified Training Institute will be delivering Mehendi (Henna) Application and Mehendi Desiging courses on 4th, 5th and 6th December. Courses will be delivered by Umayrah Peeroo, who holds a Diploma in Mehendi Designing and by Mufiidah Peeroo, who holds a Masters in Mehendi Application and Mehendi Designing. Zookeeper Camp at Casela


For the summer holidays, Casela is organising the Zookeeper Camp. The camp is a five-day activity for children and adolescents aged between eight and 16 and is run by qualified instructors who will guide the children behind the scenes of Casela and teach them the job of carer. Two sessions will take place in December, namely on December 4th to 8th and December 18th to 22th. The activity takes place from 9am to 4pm.

Every day, the child will work on projects to enrich the lives of park residents namely the animals, will discover the carer’s routine and learn more about the animal’s health. The price for residents is at Rs 8,400 and for non-residents at Rs14,000. Price includes park entrance, two t-shirts, two daily snacks, lunch and a souvenir photo. NOTE: The price for the Aldabra Giant Tortoise Feeding activity, advertised last week in our Summer Holiday Activities, is at Rs 75 and can be booked on www.caselapark.com. The regular price is: Rs 450 park entrance for adults (12years+) (residents) and Rs 250 park entrance for those aged 3 to 12 years old (residents).  Watercolour Exhibition by the China Cultural Centre


Why not visit a colourful exhibition during your holidays? You will be amazed by the Watercolour Paintings which are exhibited at the China Cultural Centre, Bell Village. The event is organised by the International Watercolour Society (Mauritius) and the China Cultural Centre in line with the World Watercolour Day 2017. The theme of the exhibition is ‘L’aquarelle – Regards croisés par-delà des océans’. The exhibition by IWS Mauritius Members and Chinese Artists is held at the China Cultural Centre, Bell Village until 2nd December.


 Hiking at Pieter Both by the Adventure Club


The Adventure Club is organising a 24-Hour-Hike at Pieter Both Mountain, the second highest peak of Mauritius. This event will start as from Saturday 25th November at 7am and will end on Sunday 26th November at 7am. Meeting point for this event is at La Laura/Malenga football ground. Parking will be available.

Participants are required to wear a good pair of sports shoes, wear sport clothing, bring their own food and water, ring a torch (if he/she will be hiking after 4pm on 25th November), wear clothes such as jackets, to protect from cold wind (if he or she will be hiking after 4pm on 25th November).

This event will last for 24 hours and will be a fully guided event. Participants are requested to carefully follow instructions given to them. There is no obligation to stay over there for the whole 24 hours.  Equipment will be provided by the Adventure Club team. The equipment will make the climbing easier and faster to reach the summit. Summer Camp 2017 by Overseas China Affair Office

The Overseas China Affair Office in collaboration with the Mandarin Teachers Association Mauritius is organising Summer Camp 2017 from 30 November to 10th December (excluding Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December) at from 9am to 3pm at Dr James Burty David SSS, Port Louis. The Summer Camp is open for kids aged 10 and above. The classes will be carried out by China Experts and translators.

Among the activities on the programme: calligraphy, Chinese painting, handicraft, dance, music, martial arts, Cantonese opera, among others. On Saturday 10th December, there will be a closing ceremony where participants will present what they have learned during the summer camp.
