Set up two years ago, Influence is a leadership coaching centre for corporate and individuals who are ready to take the step ahead in their path to success. Its Founder and Manager Nadine Adam reveals that five years back, when she met John Maxwell, her outlook on life changed. It is at that particular point that she decided to come forward with Influence. “There is no science to explain success. Usually, people tend to move with the flow of life. They believe that everything will happen automatically in its due course whether success or failure. If I had known the courses of John Maxwell or Brian Tracy before, my life would have been different. With this training centre, we are here to help young professionals to emerge as leaders,” she reveals.
The different courses
The company provides a variety of courses which are MQA approved and HRDC refunded. The training institute has put set up a unique learning framework consisting of a savvy blend of theory and practical sessions. “We target all kind of audiences depending on their needs. We started in-house training allowing Chemtech employees to grow and perform better. In almost of all our events, we invite other people from different organisations to join us. From word of mouth, we create our portfolio of customers,” explains Kevin Chellen, Consultant and Trainer.
The training is conducted during interactive sessions with a fully flexible multimedia, video-assisted program. As highlighted by Kevin Chellen, there are various mediums through which training are offered: workshops, masterminds and presentations. For workshops, it is divided into two full days or four half days. Two events are organised every month at the Training Centre in Riche Terre. The team members have different methods to help an individual to discover his potential and guide him towards the fulfilment of his objectives, goals and dreams.
The different courses include:s

Leadership and personal development
Nadine Adam avers that over the years, the concept of leadership has evolved greatly. “Today, a leader should serve people and it is this concept of servant leadership that we wish to spread to more leaders. Concerning personal growth, leaders are usually unaware of its impact on their bottomline, but by growing their employees, they are actually growing their companies. It is time for individuals to change their mindset and discover what personal development really is and how it can transform their lives.”
According to Kevin Chellen, leadership impacts the life of every person as well as any organisation. “Each individual has his/her own personality and own requirements. All our courses address various aspects of leadership and personal development. For example, ‘Perform at your best’ sets a roadmap for success for an individual allowing him to work on his strength and eliminating his weaknesses. It promotes positive thinking and helps to unleash an individual’s ultimate aptitude,” he says.
Kevin Chellen reveals that nowadays the concept of leadership is more relational than positional. “Leadership today is more about influencing people and helping them to grow rather than being all alone at the head of an institution. A leader must be humble and accessible. He must be someone known for encouraging people to move forward.”
Karen L'Evêque adds that courses like “Sometime you win, Sometime you learn,” help an individual to turn any negative event or loss into a great learning experience. “It is one of the courses recommended to individuals. We are all humans and we have a tendency to take defeat at heart. So this programme eventually helps individuals to take adversity as fuel for growth and progress in life,” she states.
Self awareness, she says, is a must in today’s competitive society. “The different courses act like an eye opener. In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, we tend to forget to reflect on our actions. Investing in personal development will allow an individual to sit and reflect on himself. One must learn from his experiences in order to grow.”
Similarly, Ananta Munisamy confides that the courses she followed in America changed her life and now she wants to share her experience with others. “One must embark in a culture of change, making people realise how not to depend on others. Each person is responsible for his life and that of his family.”
Influence has the vision to change the life of maximum people from five individual to more than 6,000. They are coming forward with more interesting and personalised coaching classes. One of their flagship projects in the near future is to host a conference by John Maxwell in Mauritius.
Their upcoming course “Leadership Gold” is scheduled for 15-17 February and 23-24 March as from 9.00 till 17.00 hr.
