The National Art Gallery kicked off its 9th Salon d’Été Visual Arts Exhibition since October 22nd. This year, the Mauritian public has the opportunity to discover promising new talents alongside established artists in the Mauritian Art scene. At the launch of the Salon, the director of the National Art Gallery, Thivynaidoo Naiken, explained that this year’s exhibition is not based on any theme. “We have done so in order to allow artists to exhibit their best work and to give backing to the creative journey of individual artist,” he highlighted.

In order to offer more Mauritians to view and appreciate the local talent, this year’s Salon is, for the very first time, showcased in two locations, namely the SSR Art Gallery and La Citadelle, where the artworks blend with the historical aura of the 19th century vestige. The public will thus have the possibility to have an encounter with works of art, representing the diversity of forms of artistic expressions of local Visual Artists.
