The construction project of the new modern Flacq University Hospital will finally see light with funds provided by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Around Rs 4.4 billion for the construction of the first phase of the project will be provided by Saudi Fund and the Kuwait Fund, as well as the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa.

The signing of documents for the loan between the Mauritian government and these three entities took place on Thursday afternoon at the Ministry of Health. For the 2018/2019 financial year, the construction will require Rs 600 million. The construction of the University Hospital should begin next year. The new health facility is expected to open in 2021. Besides treating patients, Flacq University Hospital will be used to provide theoretical and practical training for future health professionals and researchers.
