Fashion and Design Institute (FDI) - Exhibition 2016: Mesmerising and Innovative

The Fashion and Design Institute held its annual Exhibition last week to showcase the works of the final year students. The event gave them an ideal opportunity to show their creative potential and serve as a springboard for their careers.  

The Fashion and Design Institute (FDI) held its 2016 exhibition last week at the MITD Complex, Ebène. The official opening ceremony of the grand event took place on Wednesday 24 August in the presence of the Director of Industry, Robindro Ghose, from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection. 

Operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection, the FDI’s annual exhibition aims at opening the doors of the industry to future professionals in the field. Offering courses in the field of styling, graphics, interior architecture and Fine Arts, the FDI aims to promote excellence in the field of design education in Mauritius.

The Premier institute in design education in Mauritius’s exhibition 2016 saw the participation of some 70 students who presented their work. From 25 to 27 August, the grand public was invited to visit the students’ stands for free. It was thus not only an occasion to showcase their talents and skills but also an opportunity for arts fans and lovers to discover the various facets of Fashion & Design Institute and the courses and services available.

During this year’s exhibition, works of art produced by the different departments covering areas such as Interior Design and Art, Graphic Design, Photography, Illustration, Animation, Visual Communication, Sculpture and Fashion and Textiles, among others, were on display for the joy of the public as well as pride of the FDI students.
