This is indeed an unexpected and an incredible surprise from a Mauritian young lady going by the name of Melissa Wong Chor, who is a student at the famous Niagara College in Canada. In this short video, she narrates her experience, which has inspired thousands of aspiring chefs. A young professional icon from Mauritius dares to go a different route.

Associate professor at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Mauritius, Dr Archana Bhaw-Luximon leads the Biomaterials, Drug Delivery & Nanotechnology Unit of the Centre of Biomedical and Biomaterials Research (CBBR). CBBR was officially approved by UoM’s Council in May 2011 and was proclaimed Centre of Excellence by the African Network for Drugs and Diagnostics Innovation (ANDI) in October the same year. 

The Human Tissue (Removal, Preservation and Transplant) Bill : More lives can be saved

The Minister of Health, Dr Anwar Husnoo, presented in first reading the Human Tissue (Removal, Preservation and Transplant) Bill at the National Assembly last week and debates will continue on 8th May. The aim of the Bill is to repeal the Human Tissue (Removal, Preservation and Transplant) (Amendment) Act 2013 and replace it with a revised and new legislation. However, while most stakeholders in the health sector are positive regarding the Bill, others are having some apprehension.

Community Service Contest Prize-Giving : Mauritian Students making a difference in their communities

Serving and giving back to the community. This is what students from twenty four colleges have accomplished during the last two months in line with the national contest based on Dr. Martin Luther King’s inspiring words, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” Three teams were rewarded for their remarkable work during a Prize-Giving Ceremony on Monday 30th April.
