DStv goes for the kill: Prices down, featured channels up

MultiChoice announced in a press conference on Wednesday a decrease on DStv subscription prices alongside a massive content upgrade on its satellite tv packages, effective as from November 1, 2016.

Roselys Collard, the Managing Director of Vitiro Ltd, DStv Service Provider in Mauritius, highlighted that MultiChoice’s priority is to put customers at the heart of the business. “Over the past nine months, DStv has delivered the world’s best football leagues to DStv Compact customers [February] followed by the DStv price freeze in April – and in the latest giant leap in providing customer value, DStv is offering the best value entertainment by combining both quality and variety at a reduced rate to ensure everyone has access to great family entertainment,” she said.

Customers will be able to enjoy price decreases namely on DStv Premium by 5%, Compact Plus by 3%, Family by 7%. DStv Premium will now offer more for less at new subscription price of Rs 2,700 instead of Rs 2,835. DStv Premium now boasts 20 HD channels. Customers can also look forward in the coming months to pop-up channels like the M-Net Movies Harry Porter pop-up channel which will run from 4 to 14 November. The DStv Compact Plus package will have 11 new channels at a 3% drop in subscription price to Rs 1,645 instead of Rs 1,700. The new channels will include Vuzu AMP, Lifetime, Discovery channel, C rime & Investigation, History channel and Africa Magic Showcase. 

DStv Compact Plus will also be injected with extra sports content with the addition of more UEFA Champions League matches alongside the best European Football leagues and the Europa league on SuperSport 6 (SS6) and SuperSport 4 (SS4). On the other hand, six new channels will be added to the DStv Compact package among ROK, Eva Plus and B4U Movies. 

For families to enjoy great entertainment, DStv has made its Family package more accessible with a reduction of 7%. The package will now be available at the price of Rs 665 with an additional of five new channels. The DStv Access, which is accessible at the price of Rs 374, will also get a major content boost with three new added channels including SS4, B4U Movies and Eva Plus in addition to a great new line up of sporting events. With the aim to allow customers to enjoy more variety, quality and exciting new content to their pay-tv packages, DStv also announced festive promotions which will be effective until December 31st 2016. 

Roselys Collard explained that the promotion focus on the installation of the packages. The promotions will be as follows: Rs 1,500 HD Single and installation package + 1 Month Free for Compact Bouquet, Rs 1,500 HD Single and installation package + Rs 1,000 discount for Compact+ Bouquet and Rs 1,500 HD Single and installation package + Rs 1,000 discount for Premium Bouquet.
