Young professionals and their dream jobs

Most persons have a dream job. Whether we manage to land it is another story. Some are working hard to achieve their dreams while others have just given up. This week, some young professionals share with us what their dream job is. I have spent so many passionate years in my current profession that I consider it my dream job, or should I say my vocation,” he confides. Deepak never thought he would become a teacher. “Since my first days teaching in front of a class of about 50 Form 5 students up to now, I have lived my profession in a very passionate way. The contribution of my students, colleagues and Rectors has been useful in my development within this profession.” For him, being a teacher requires more than the ability to speak in class. “Management of the child’s emotion, versatility, lesson and question anticipation, patience as well as sacrifice of family time is what has led me to where I am today. Learn for life, not for school is what I preach and my students know this fully well. The overall development of the child lies in a balance between academic and extra-curricular activities.” Pratima Boojhawon: “I want to become chartered accountant” Shaneel, 23 years old, is a young self motivated person with partial disability due to Rheumatoid Arthritis since he was three. He is currently working in a financial institution as an assistant internal auditor. “A dream is not a dream unless you aspire to make it happen. There is no perfect job but if you have the love for it, a good work-life balance and happiness in everything you do, you are already a winner in life. But nevertheless, I want to become an ACCA Fellow and become an accountant.” His disability has allowed him to see the world differently and having a workplace which is welcoming and friendly, with ample growth opportunities and an appreciation for hard work is what counts most for him. “I also value respect for a person’s ideas; mutual understanding and I have a real thirst to learn from others’ experience. I am someone who believes in the power of my dreams and I feel that I am on the right path although it will take me some time to achieve it. Dream jobs are special because of the way they make us feel and you know you have one when you are inspired to say: ‘I absolutely love my work and I feel like I am finally doing the work I was born to do.’ ” [[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"13715","attributes":{"class":"media-image wp-image-22787 alignleft","typeof":"foaf:Image","style":"","width":"177","height":"170","alt":"young-pro-vincent"}}]]Vincent Poonisami: “I want to become a fashion designer” 23-year old Vincent is a garment technologist and his dream job is to be a freelance fashion designer and have his own design house. “I have loved fashion ever since I was a teenager.
