The KIP Centre for Leadership has provided a three-day training workshop on women leadership, in collaboration with GIBS University of Pretoria. This high level training has a first of its kind in Mauritius and witnessed the presence of the top management of the country’s major companies.
During her opening speech, Minister of Gender Equality, Aurore Perraud, spoke of the importance for government to favour policies promoting gender equality. She also called for more solidarity which will in turn result in a sensible improvement of performance within the workplace.

The President of the Republic, Dr (Mrs) Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, who was also present at the opening ceremony, took the floor to speak of her experience as a woman leader. Views were also shared by a panel comprising of Mrs Helene Echevin, MD of Archemix (Groupe Harel Mallac), Ambassador and Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Usha Canabady, and Hubert Gaspard, Group HR for IBL.

A visit was also organised at the women prison and the Ambassador of South Africa, Dr N. Nokwe, gave the final speech on resilience.
A second leg of this training programme is scheduled for July on the campus of GIBS University of Pretoria, in South Africa. According to the Financial Times, “GIBS is a leader in executive education for the region.”
