Aaahhhhh…. the school holidays are finally here and we are sure you are excited and looking forward to some fun times with your family and friends. So if you are wondering how to spend your free time, here’s a list of amusing and enriching activities.

Have lots of fun and learn new interesting things with the non-residential holiday camp at the Jardin D’eveil, Albion. Set up by Terre de Paix, the camp at the Jardin D’eveil is dedicated to kids aged between 6 to 12 years. The non-residential camp is taking place between 26th to 28th July from 9am to 2pm. It is important for the kids to wear long sleeves, trousers and comfortable shoes. They will have to bring along their hats, sun screen, water and lunch. Dance for fun

What better way to enjoy the holidays than learn how to improve your dancing talents. Dance in the City, Port Louis (at Kinoo Square) is hosting special dance classes during the holidays. Kids aged as from 4 will have fun discovering hip-hop dance, Bollywood dance and Zumba. The one hour classes are taking place every day at 11am and 1.30pm for the price pf Rs 100.

Open Day at Domaine de L’Etoile

Enjoy a fun day at the Domaine de L’Etoile, Sebastopol,  on July 31st from 9am to 4pm. Organised by Terrocean Concept Ltd and the Tourism Promotion Association, the Open Day event aims at making different activities accessible to all. Visitors will thus have the chance to enjoy activities such as Trekking, Treasure Hunt and Archery at reduced prices. Entry fee is at Rs 100 for adults and Rs 50 per child aged between three and 12 years. Reservations must be made before July 25 by calling on 5954-1244. If you plan to end your day with a nice picnic, note that food and drinks will be sold at the Domaine. Also note that shuttles will be linking Sebastopol and Belle Rive to the Domaine every half hour.

Les enfants d’un Reve: Live Acoustique Concert

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of its association, Les enfants d’un rêve will be presenting a live acoustique concert. For the grand event, various local artists will perform. Artists such as Laurent Pierre Lecordier from The Vocie 2016 will also perform. Songs of ‘Chante ton coeur’, last year’s CD, will be sang by the artists. The concerts will take place at the Kafe-t@komiko at Route Royale, Belle-Rose on different dates namely: Thursday July 28 at 20:00, Friday July 29 at 20:00, Saturday July 30 at 20:00 and Sunday July 31 at 13:30. Tickets are at fixed price of Rs 350.

Jungle Fun and Fairy Tales at the British Council

A series of fun and interactive holidays classes are taking place at the British Council. Register your child to unleash his/her creativity. Among the activities on the program: interactive communication games, learning through songs, arts and crafts, storytelling and plays and performance. The classes are at the centre at Rose Hill as well as the new centre at Grand Baie La Croisette. “The idea is to get away from book based activities. It is about having fun with English through task based activities. Children will have a real enjoyable experience,” explains Robert Derbyshire, Academic Manager and Deputy Director British Council Mauritius.

Classes are taking place for two weeks. Holiday Course A, for kids aged between 5 to 6 years, is taking place on 18th to 22nd July and 25th to 29th July. Holiday Course B, for kids aged between 7 to 9 years, is taking place between 1st to 5th August and 8th to 12th August. You have the choice to book either for one week course or two. The classes are taking place from 9am to noon. Price for one week (15hours) is at Rs 3,600 and second week is at Rs 7,200. Note that anyone who signs up for two weeks of holiday courses gets the second week at half price. For more information, call on 403-0200.

Spend a cool and amusing day at the Lucky Strike, Grand Baie. Enjoy a bowling session with your friends and family between 10am to 2am. Children aged as from three and up are welcomed. Prices are at Rs 120 for sessions between 10am to 6pm during week days and Rs 150 after 6pm during weekends. You may also relax at the lounge or have a fun playing pool.

Fun at Grand Baie La Croisette

If you are traveling to the north of the island between July 22 to August 14, drop by Grand Baie La Croisette. Besides everyday activities namely the movies, kids playground, rollers and game zones, a special program has been set up this winter school holidays for kid’s joy. They will definitely have lots of fun.

Until July 31, enjoy several activities at the Vallee des Couleurs at promotional prices. The entry fee for Mauritians will be at Rs 100. Activities such as quad biking (simple) is at Rs 1,425 for one hour, zipling is at Rs 300 and suspension bridge at Rs 400.

Exciting activities at Cascavelle

Boys and girls, head to Cascavelle commercial centre to enjoy lots of amazing activities during the holidays. Enjoy poney rides every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 14 August at Rs 50 and Rs 100 (for kids aged 3 to 10). Initiation to rollers and speedmintion will also be on the program. Elder kids can enjoy thrilling disciplines such as ‘roller hockey’, dance and ‘slalom-freestyle.
