The Central Water Authority (CWA) is assiduously charting a new fee schedule for domestic water consumers. An increase upto a maximum of 200 per cent is expected for large consumers. It is an attempt to discourage them from wasting water, state sources form the government. The increase in the tariff is also a sign of the upcoming privatization of the CWA. “Those using 60,000 litres of water (60m³) or more per month, will pay more," explained Yousouf Ismael, director of the CWA. "We do not want to penalize anyone. Those who use large volumes of water will have to review their priorities,” he uttered. No date has been set for this increase yet.
