Over the past years, the cruise industry has evolved tremendously around the world. If more cruise ships are coming to Mauritius, our local people also are now enjoying trips on these stylish oceanic liners. Besides, Mauritius is expecting to give a boost to its cruise sector by 2021 with some 50 vessel calls coming to the Islands.

Cyclone Cilida

A Menace for Mauritius

We’ve been hearing, since the beginning of the week, that there was a high chance that a cyclone will be a spoilsport for the festivities at the time we are nearing Christmas. Indeed, the moderate tropical storm, which was moving east of Agalega and named Cilida, has intensified into a tropical storm. On Thursday afternoon, the Mauritius Meteorological Services announced that a cyclone warning Class 1 was in force in Mauritius.

Managing Director of Promotion and Development Limited, René Leclézio is the initiator of the Caudan Arts Centre project. Holder of a BSc (Chemical Engineering) from Imperial College, London, and an MBA from the London Business School, René Leclézio was appointed director of Tropical Paradise Co. Ltd on 12th December 1994. Before being appointed CEO of Promotion and Development Ltd in 1987, he worked in London as consultant engineer in the oil and gas industry and with Lloyds Merchant Bank as Assistant Manager in Project Finance. He is the Director of several private and public companies including Caudan Development Limited, Medine Limited, Excelsior United Development Co. Ltd (EUDCOS), Mauritius Freeport Development Co Ltd, Swan Life Ltd and Swan General. He shares with us, in this interview, the objective behind the building of the Caudan Arts Centre and the revival of the Capital through creative projects.
