Jean-Max Appanah: “There should be one common strategy to promote the SME sector”
Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant, Jean-Max Appanah is the Managing Partner of JM Appanah & Co Ltd. Having had an extensive experience in dealing with family businesses, he has worked for a number of small and medium size audit firms during 19 years in the UK. He shares with News on Sunday his views on the SME sector in Mauritius and its future and if certain measures announced in the Budget 2019-2020 will benefit the entrepreneurs.

Stranded at low tides?
“The future lies in the untapped wealth of the ocean” is one line we have been constantly hearing since 2012. In various budgets, several projects were announced. Some have been implemented while others have been shelved. Ocean Economy seems to have been among the forgotten in the recent Budget. Total uncertainty about the holding of the By-election
On Tuesday, the Writ of Election was issued. The By-election in Constituency No 7 (Piton/Rivière du Rempart) is fixed for Wednesday 13th November. The announcement has not aroused enthusiasm, either in the political sphere or in the public. All Opposition parties continue to believe that the National Assembly will be dissolved well before calling the population for the General Elections.
