Vidya Iyer: An outstanding musical voyage

From East to West, Vidya Iyer embarked her fans on a musical voyage during her concert on Sunday 1st May at the J&J auditorium at 20:15 hrs. The mash-up music star rocked the stage with Indian rhythms and western pop music. Vidya Iyer, popularly known as Vidya Vox on social networks, embarked her fans on an exquisite musical trip during her first concert in Mauritius. Organised by Events Plus and Umagic, the concert, which was held on Sunday 1st May at the J&J Auditorium, attracted scores of fans from all around the island as well as local personalities. A hall full of fans welcomed her. As she interpreted her most famous mash-ups hits, including Dil Yeh Bechein Hai and Justin Bieber’s Sorry and A.R Rahman’s Kandukondein, the Indian-American sensation captivated her fans. Ki maniere?” The Chennai girl, who wore a lovely turquoise lehenga, also interpreted a medley of her most favourite romantic mash-ups songs such as All of me/Main Hoon Hero Tera and Love me like you do/Samjhawan. While her remixed version of ‘Taal se Taal’ mesmerized her fans, Vidya filled the hall with an electric atmosphere as she interpreted a Punjabi version of ‘Lean on’. Vidya was also on stage with her talented sister Vandana and her musicians. The two sisters interpreted Tamil songs. Dancers from RDX Indo-Mauritian Dance Group joined her on stage during the performance. The public got the chance to see their star closer and dance to the rhythm of ‘Mehendi Laga Ke Rakna’. To close up the concert in pomp, Vidya surprised her fans by singing ‘Maplai Ponnu’ - a local song blending Tamil and Creole languages.
