The TIPA (Terrain for Interactive Pedagogy through Arts) association, non-governmental and non-profit organisation whose mission is to empower vulnerable children to become active citizens in society by favouring their development through the promotion of interactive pedagogy and education to Art and Culture, is organising its annual fundraising until Saturday 30 April.
The aim of the fundraising is to continue empowering 360 vulnerable children from three ZEP schools namely Tranquebar, Vallijee and Pointe aux Sables.
‘Donn zanfan plis valer’ – theme of the fund raising this year, calls to the generosity and solidarity of the public. Like all NGOs, TIPA depends largely on CSR funds. This year, the team became more involved in its annual fundraising. TIPA therefore makes appeals to the Mauritian public. “Through your donations, you enhance the value of children and give them the chance to develop civic values. Funds raised will help the organization move forward in its work with 360 vulnerable children from 3 ZEP schools.”
Founded in 2007, TIPA’s vision is to create a dynamic society where citizens are engaged, the contribution of each one is valued and their differences recognised.
TIPA chooses to focus its intervention in ZEP schools as it believes that children living in poverty need more support to be given equal opportunities. TIPA thus aims to develop among vulnerable children civic values such as cooperation, participation, respect for others, respect for regulations, among others. To do so, Rowin Narraidoo and Christelle Gopaul, from TIPA association, carry out special creative classes in collaboration with educators, where these values are solicited through theater or the visual arts.
“As an approach, TIPA uses interactive pedagogy that considers the constant interaction between the child, the teacher and the environment, and aims to enable the child to be involved in his/her learning,” said Angélique de la Hogue, Programme Manager at TIPA.
