Summer School Holiday Plans: Let’s have some fun

Finally… the summer school holidays are here. You have plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the sunny days ahead. So, start your holidays by planning some great activities to have some real fun time. Here’s what we have for you.

Activities by the Ministry of Youth and Sports

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is organising a series of activities during the school holidays. From 15th to 17th November, a holiday village will be taking place at the Pandit Sahadeo Sports Complex in Vacoas. A first, the aim of this holiday village is to present various activities to young people and give them the opportunity to meet, share and learn new things in a festive atmosphere. During three days, from 10am to 3pm, those aged 14 and above will have the chance to discover a range of fun activities like handball, volley-ball, archery, educational boxing and weightlifting, among others. A treasure hunt is also scheduled for the three days. A visit to the SMF training course as well as at the Vacoas Meteorological Station is also on the programme. 

In addition, several sports activities and leisure activities will be organised in the various youth centres round the island. Among those activities: street football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, quizzes, scrabble, carom, table tennis, treasure hunts, painting competitions, PlayStation gaming competition, slam competition, among others.

Golf Initiation with CocoTown

This is an ideal way to introduce your kids to golfing. The Golf Initiation Programme organised by CocoTown is specially designed for children aged six and above. The programme is designed to firstly develop the child’s understanding of the game whilst working on key fundamental movement skills needed for future development. During the programme, taking place from 14th to 18th November, kids will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the game from technique to basic rules. The professionals who will initiate the children to the game will provide a fun game and task environment for maximum enjoyment. Classes are limited to a specific number of children per instructor. The programme costs Rs 4,000 and includes entrance to CocoTown, transport to the Golf Class, two hours of Gold Lesson (Tuesday to Friday), Professional Coach (9-5pm), lunch, snacks and drinks.

Plenty of activities at the Festival International Kreol

For its 11th edition, the Festival International Kreol is organising a series of activities as from Thursday 17th November. On the programme: fashion show, various competitions on ‘Sega Tipik’, slam, painting competitions, Creole dictation, theatre, among others. On Thursday 17th November, a conference will take place at the University of Mauritius as from 10am.

BagaKids have Fun

If you have planned nothing yet for this weekend, then set off to Bagatelle Mall. Your kids will definitely enjoy the creative workshops taking place on both Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November. Kids will enjoy themselves designing and creating Christmas cards and decorations.
