Rotary of Quatre-Bornes sponsors two youths

The Rotary Club of Quatre Bornes (RCQB) took the initiative to sponsor two girls of Residence Kennedy in their studies. These two girls are from families with modest incomes. The youngest, 17, is on her second attempt at the School Certificate examinations while the second one, 18, is enrolled on a vocational training course at the Sir Gaëtan Duval Hotel School. They want to succeed in their studies and aspire to have a career to support their families.

The RCQB, which is committed to promote education for the advancement of their community, joined forces with Billy Ng to identify the two young girls who needed this financial assistance. In fact, Billy Ng has been working with local youths for some time now. Through his martial arts school, he teaches them discipline and the importance of having a healthy lifestyle while removing them from the plagues that affect young people such as alcohol, smoking and drugs.

To sponsor these two students, the RCQB organised a fundraising at the restaurant The Deck at the Caudan Waterfront last January. This good cause had the volunteer participation of several local artists including DJ RAin, Jeff Momplé, Manfred Faro, Fleurio Granada, DJ Brainlove and Chocolate Events. The fundraising was used to pay for the examination fees and the course fees for the girls. The RCQB hopes that these two young girls will be good role models for others.
