Retail Ecosystem Conference : Towards a Smart Future

Cybernaptics and its partners Mauritius Freeport Development, Qlik SA and Zebra organized a conference on Retail Ecosystem on Tuesday 17 October at the hotel Le Méridien Mauritius. The guests of leading companies in the trade and distribution sector in Mauritius discovered the latest IT solutions and systems as well as logistics that enable to optimize the main functions of their operations.

Statistically, the commercial sector is a key element of the Mauritian economy and has been third position of the GDP in 2016, behind the sector finance and the hotel/food industry, and above the sector of information technologies as well professional, scientific and technical activities.

During the conference, experts from this sector presented the latest trends as well as some of operational and software solutions, concerning logistics management, warehousing and inventory management, in-store and online sales, and the analysis of trends in consumption and customer flow.

At the opening of the conference Viv Padayatchy, CEO of Cybernaptics, has noted the importance of digital platforms, such as Alibaba, in the service of large distribution and trade. On his part, Hans Herchenroder, Commercial Director of Mauritius Freeport Development Ltd (MFD) elaborated on the means and main processes of warehousing and logistics services, which uses IT solutions, including online with its customers and partners.

Ryhno Joubert, regional manager of Qlik SA for Africa, gave an overview of benefits of the solutions of this brand, by meeting the challenge that represent the increasingly strong situation of online commerce and evolution customer buying habits. By 2020, 40% of online sales will be a mobile phone, he noted. Major brands, such as Ikea, use the Qlik applications - which cover many functions and offer a table of edge in real time and for the ex post analysis of many factors allowing to optimize operations and sales.

New technologies

The advantages of mobile digital equipment for operations in numerous sectors, including retail and mass distribution, were presented by Nicolas Korff, Senior Retail Account Manager at Zebra Technologies; a company American team specialized in barcode systems, RFID chips and communication equipment in the workplace. She bought the division “Companies" of Motorola Solutions in 2014.

New technologies, more and more intelligent, make it possible today to better manage the production, distribution and sales processes, in just targeting better the needs of the clientele in order to better satisfy it, have demonstrated stakeholders. The tools deployed in this way concern both systems accessible to customers and store staff as readers of data identifying items, such as QR codes and RFID tags.

Collaboration between Godrej Infotech Ltd and Cybernaptics

Kingshuk Chatterjee, Head of Business and Marketing of Godrej Infotech Ltd, an Indian company with strong expertise in solutions for companies, was one of the speakers at the conference, as part of the brand new collaboration between the two companies. This collaboration with Cybernaptics aims to enrich the offer on Microsoft Dynamics in Mauritius, and in the region, with the commercialization of LS Retail. This product is a world leader in trade management and counts, among its Customers, names such as Starbucks Coffee, Shiseido, H & M, etc.
