Public transport : DWorld Motors says Anyuan buses are highly fuel efficient

Anyuan Semi Low Floor Buses have been cleared by the National Transport Authority to operate in Mauritius. Imported by DWorld Motors Co Ltd, based at Coromandel, Anyuan buses have won the heart of local bus operators. The first consignment of five buses is already on our roads, and the second order of 10 more buses will reach Mauritius Mid-August17. They have all been purchased by private bus operators.

Readers will recall that Anyuan buses Model PK61110HQG3 were launched in Mauritius on 28 April at Domaines Les Pailles. According to Mr Sanjay Jugessur, Director of DWorld Motors, the official distributor of the Anyuan brand in Mauritius, these buses are “tailor-made for the individual bus operators as the engine is front-located, Japanese Hino, Turbocharged with EUR III emissions and with a fuel economy of less than 25L/100km compared to competitors’ rear engine type which attains 40L/100km. Through a simulation test carried out on Route No. 16 Rose-Hill – Bel-Air – Flacq and back, the consumption was only 20L/102kms which was lower than the conventional Isuzu buses by Rs. 240/trip. Thus the operator will save Rs. 480/daily as they normally do two trips per day. A competitor using a semi low floor bus of another brand (rear located engine) consumes Rs. 1500 more than conventional buses per day.” 

Mr Jugessur believes that in the very short term, Anyuan buses will be commonly seen on our roads and will be the ‘talk of the town’, as these buses are equipped with USB charging port at each row of seats together with free Wi-Fi internet facilities on board.

Ever since the government introduced a ‘Bus Modernisation Programme’, with a generous subsidy to operators who acquire a new semi low floor buses, various bus brands have been introduced in Mauritius, such as Yutong, Higer, Yaxing, Foton, Golden Dragon, Daewoo, Ashok Leyland Jan Bus, Tata Marco Polo and Anyuan. Passengers are being pleasantly spoilt as they see the transport landscape changing for the better with more comfortable bus rides.
