Prime Minister’s Cyclone Relief Fund : SBM and MHC Ltd donate Rs 1 Million each

The State Bank of Mauritius (SBM) and the Mauritius Housing Company (MHC) Ltd donated Rs 1 Million each to the Prime Minister’s Cyclone Relief Fund. The fund aims at providing assistance to the victims affected by recent cyclone Berguitta.

In this context, the Chairman of SBM Holdings Ltd, Mr Kee Chong Li Kwong Wing, and the Chairman of the MHC Ltd, Mr Deepak Balgobin, as well as other representatives of the companies, met the Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, on Wednesday 14th February at the New Treasury Building, Port Louis, to present the cheques.

In a statement to the press, Mr Balgobin underlined that as a responsible company, the MHC is contributing to help the Government in its mission of assisting those afflicted by the natural calamity. He emphasised that the money could also help in repairing infrastructures damaged by flooding.
