President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim: “The youth should opt for entrepreneurship”

The President of the Republic, Dr (Mrs) Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, commented on the increasing rate of unemployment among young people. She was speaking to the press on Thursday. “Each year, it is estimated that about 11 million graduates will land on the [global] labour market. I do not think the government will have this ability to create jobs.” Hence, she makes an appeal to young people to explore entrepreneurship and believes that the budgetary measures will go in this direction. “The question is how we should think differently so that youth develop entrepreneurial skills. We must develop a “mindset” that nothing is achieved easily in the 21st century. All budgetary measures that follow will accompany the youth in entrepreneurship,” stated the President.
