New Director for MBC?

The board of directors of the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), which met on Wednesday, appointed Ashok Beeharry as acting Information Director. The latter, who was subject to sanctions earlier this year, will be replacing Kessen Budhoo. According to a source at the MBC, this is a normal procedure before he is officially appointed as director. According to a member of the board of directors, the appointment took effect as from Thursday. However, Ashok Beeharry on his side pointed out that he has not yet received any official communication in this regard. At the Prime Minister’s Office, officers are expediting the MBC case. “The next step will be to appoint a new director,” said a source at the PMO. The board of directors of the MBC should be reconstituted with the aim to bring new blood to this public institution that falls under the responsibility of the Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth since a week already.
