MPs qualifications

The Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, earlier this week, raised the issue of persons without qualifications working as journalists. In that context, News on Sunday checked out on the qualifications of those governing us.

On Monday, the Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, speaking at the ceremony of change of name of Monneron State Secondary School to Abdul Hamid Goolam Mahomed Issac SSS, remarked that some persons without any appropriate qualifications become journalists. He compared the situation to Abdul Hamid Goolam Mahomed Issac who was a ‘real’ journalist with all necessary qualifications. The comments sparked debate among members of the press.
