Miss Earth 2016: Amber Korimdun: A national pride

21-year old Amber Korimdun was recently elected Miss Earth 2016. The beauty queen has won over the jury of the competition with her enchanting smile and pleasant personality. She is a lively young lady who is very passionate about sports. She makes us discover her athletic side.

Amber Korimdun has recently completed her BA (Hons) English at the University of Mauritius and she is currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at the Mauritius Institute of Education. After being the first runner-up in the Miss Creole beauty pageant, she participated in the Miss Earth 2016. “I feel so happy to have been up to the expectations of my family and friends. I am proud to have been given the golden opportunity to represent my beautiful country at international level,” she shares. The young lady will be flying to Philippines to represent Mauritius in the finals to be held in October. Her passions are simple: nature, horses and physical exercise.

Amber has included sports as an integral part in her everyday life. “I used to play football in Sainte Croix Villa Real female football team. I was also part of the UOM Gymnastics Club. Gymnastic is one of the most amazing disciplines there is. I have started gymnastics at the age of 18 at university. I have been into fitness for a long time. I have won several medals for the university’s Gymnastics Club during my three years there. It requires hard work, daily exercises and determination to achieve the different moves,” she shares. 

The multi-talented lady is also passionate about horses. “I enjoy horse riding and grooming these animals, as it makes me feel close to nature. I have been riding on and off since I was 14 years old.” She likes sports, as it is a means to keep fit and feel good.  

Her future plans…

Amber cherishes the dream of becoming an English educator as well as continue defending the environmental cause. “I want to participate in an active manner to preserve Mother Earth.”
