This concerns the diffusion on the social media platform of a “credit note” from Apollo Bramwell hospital, dated in 2014, which alleges that Minister Soodhun had his medical expenses bill written off. Something that the latter denies and claims is purely made up to harm “his reputation.” Last week, Mr Ruhomaully and his wife were charged with breach of the Information and Communication Technologies Act (ICTA) and was released on bail. According to Showkutally Soodhun, the IT professional called him a ‘liar’ on the social platform this week regarding the “credit note”. The Minister filed a complaint against Hassenjee Ruhomaully on Tuesday accusing the latter of tarnishing his reputation. On Tuesday, Mr Ruhomaully was wanted by the Cybercrime Unit. He was placed under arrest on Wednesday while he called at the Police Headquarters for his iPad to be examined by the police. Feeling ill, he was admitted to Dr Jeetoo Hospital before been transferred at Fortis Darné clinic. Hassenjee Ruhomaully was placed under medical observation while waiting for his second indictment in connection with the defamation complaint filed against him. Asked about his latest Facebook post in the presence of his lawyer, Hassenjee Ruhomally denied having defamed Showkutally Soodhun. For him, he rather defended himself against the Minister who reportedly called him a liar at a press conference last Thursday. Once his health will improve, the suspect will be charged of offense of the ICTA. His lawyer asked the police to investigate the authenticity of the “credit note” which his client shared on his Facebook page.
