Minesh Ramchurn: Life should be creative

A young graduate in Graphic Design and Creative Advertising, Minesh Ramchurn, 23, has already forged a name in the field of Graphic Design and Photography. Through his exceptional talent, he has been conquering many hearts and … contracts! Currently working on exclusive freelance projects, his services are in great demand.  Let’s discover what this young man has to tell us! Passionate about creativity, Minesh Ramchurn aims to become a creative director in his own graphic company and photo studio. The seeds of entrepreneurship are already germinating in his fertile mind. But where did he get this passion for photography and design? He shares that after being awarded the title of ‘Best Student’ at college, he started to sell his paintings and portrait sketches. Following this success, he decided to create a Facebook page, which he says is now a must for all artists. He then decided to pursue his university education in arts and creative designing. Thus, graphic designing became his focal point. After buying his first camera for the graphic design course, he started to develop a strong passion for photography. “Life should be creative and there must always be a need to capture the right moments,” he says. His dream?

His motto is “Work Hard and look like a Zombie” but what is his dream? “Inspiring people to share their work, and youngsters to follow their dreams,” comes the reply. Learning to accept critics is a way of life for him. Through all those phases, he wants to emerge as reference in graphic designing. Would he advise school leavers to opt for a career in design? He replies that despite being a field that is already saturated in Mauritius, photography and graphic designing still attract. “A very strong goodwill and the right mindset to discover new facets of photography will be advantageous to newcomers. So I would advise youngsters to choose it as a career if they have the determination to explore this field deeply. Photography and graphic designing is a vast field, so one can choose one aspect that he likes and further develops it,” he explains. But in Mauritius, can a photographer survive exclusively on photography? Minesh Ramchurn says sadly it is not the case. Photography remains a passion and a part-time activity. For instance, wedding photographers are recruited only at some periods of the year. But things can improve through innovation, he adds. “The communication field is rapidly gaining pace and momentum and innovations are also emerging. I feel there is poor dominance of 3D advertising in Mauritius though it’s a newbie....Hence I intend to divert my resources to learn the 3D techniques that will greatly impact my growth. I am convinced my creativity will allow me to use photography in the ad world to come up with new concepts and innovations.”
