Media Trust Awards Night: Abhi Ramsahaye and Yaasin Pohrun of the Défi Media Group awarded

The Media Trust Awards Night honouring the best journalistic work of 2016 took place on Saturday January 28 at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ebene. Among the award winners are Abhi Ramsahaye, journalist at the Défi Media Group. Abhi Ramsahye won the Nicolas Lambert 2016 Prize, which rewards the journalist who stood out during the year, for his investigative piece on telephone tapping.

Abhi Ramsahaye was also awarded with the Best Investigative Article Award for the same subject. “I dedicate this award to Le Défi Media Group’s team and to my family, especially my father, Kiran Ramsahaye. He has always supported me in my career,” he said. In addition, the award for best radio production was awarded to Le Défi Media Group’s radio journalist Yaasin Pohrun for his soundtrack in the affair known as “Bal Kouler”.

The awards were presented by a jury chaired by Toriden Chellapermal, former Director General of the MBC, and composed of Vijaya Teelock, Rajen Bablee, Executive Director of Transparency Mauritius, and Yan Hookoomsing.
