Carnegie CETO-Technology
Australian wave energy developer Carnegie Wave Energy Ltd has received Rs 21.4 million (approx.) in financing for a wave and microgrid design project in Mauritius. The Australian government is awarding the funds in partnership with the Mauritian government so that Carnegie carries out the study and design of certain projects focused on high penetration renewable energy microgrids incorporating wave power technology. The project activities include delivering a renewable energy roadmap for Mauritius, assessing the local wave energy resource and identifying a preferred site for a commercial project using Carnegie’s CETO technology as well as designing a microgrid powered desalination plant on the Mauritian island of Rodrigues. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 25 million. The sum not covered by the fresh financing will be invested by Carnegie itself.
