She has taken Human Resources to new heights across the African continent. Jessyca Joyekurun — entrepreneur and HR specialist — has just reached a major continental milestone. Founder of Expand Human Resources (2012) and the recently launched ComplianceHR Mauritius (2024), Jessyca was awarded Most Promising Enterprise of the Year – Human Resources at the Africa Company of the Year Awards (ACOYA) 2025, during a grand gala at the Superdome in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, 19 June.

Through her ventures, Jessyca has proven that from a small island like Mauritius, it is possible to shape the future of work across Africa. Her journey, built on audacity, consistency, and ethics, has led to the creation of a pan-African HR consultancy network, active in Madagascar, Tanzania, Uganda, and now expanding to the United Arab Emirates.

Recognition for a Reimagined African Leadership

Bridging Dubai and Mauritius, Jessyca Joyekurun represents a new wave of African leadership—one anchored in human values, responsible innovation, and meaningful empowerment.

A recipient of the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship, initiated by President Obama in 2014, Jessyca received training at Yale University and became part of the Yale World Fellows network in entrepreneurship. Visionary and purpose-driven, she is dedicated to building healthy, inclusive, and values-led workplaces.

Deeply passionate about Africa’s future, Jessyca has cultivated a powerful pan-African network to support a continent undergoing rapid transformation.

“This award is not just recognition. It’s a powerful signal. Africa no longer needs permission to exist in the global strategy—it must now set the framework, lead with its voice, and showcase its talents,” says Jessyca.

As an ACOYA 2025 award winner, Jessyca’s 2030 vision includes the creation of a Pan-African Academy for Soft Skills and Women’s Leadership, the launch of a women-led social impact investment fund, and the establishment of an intergenerational mentorship network connecting African and diaspora women leaders.

A Voice That Challenges — and Shapes the Future

Jessyca Joyekurun has become one of the continent’s most respected voices on the future of work in Africa.

She stands firmly against the normalisation of toxic workplace cultures and champions the accountability of business leaders through ethical, transparent, and people-first practices.

A staunch advocate for human-centered digital transformation, she promotes the ethical use of AI—not to replace people, but to empower them within organisations.

Through regular contributions in the media and high-level forums, she challenges labour law reforms and workplace policies that threaten fairness and inclusion. Her unwavering mission: to help build a professional landscape that is just, inclusive, and sustainable.

An international speaker, mentor to emerging leaders, and consultant on strategic African platforms, Jessyca will soon be featured in Bloomberg, Yahoo Finance, and other leading global outlets following her ACOYA win.

A Victory Dedicated to Mauritius and Her Hometown

Moved to tears, Jessyca dedicated her award to three fundamental pillars of her life: her brother, her silent rock; her late mother, her never-ending source of strength, values, and resilience; and to Quatre-Bornes, the city that saw her grow, fall, rise, and soar.

Her message to Africa’s Youth is simple yet powerful. “If I have one message for Generations Z and Alpha, it’s this: Create. Disrupt. Shake things up. Never accept the status quo. Africa is no longer waiting — it’s calling.”
