Man arrested in connection with murder of his aunt

The CID of Quatre Bornes arrested four suspects in relation to the murder of Soopama Pajaniandy. The dead body of the 80-year old lady was found on last Friday in her house. The four suspects are 23-year old Sevathean Allan, nephew of the victim, Dhanish Dookee, a carpenter of 20 years; Viterissen Sabapathee Rajagopal, a plumber of 19 years – all of them are inhabitants of Rose Hill – and Yudishtil Kheerodhur, also known as Khoolash, 22 years old. Allan Sevathean told investigators that his accomplices and him usually attack old people as they are easy prey. “Last Thursday, my three friends and I planned to rob the house of an old lady in Beau Bassin. When we got there, we could not carry out our plan as there were too many people. I then told my friends that my aunt lives alone. On Friday, we put our plan into action. Since we had to get into the house during the day, we dressed as telecom workers to evade any suspicion. My two friends visited the house; they scared my aunt with a knife and steel rod. They tied her and carried out the robbery,” he revealed. On Wednesday, the four suspects appeared at the Rose Hill Court where they have been charged of murder. Police have objected to their release.
