Independence Day celebrations: Malagasy President will be chief guest

The President of the Republic of Madagascar, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, will be on a State visit to Mauritius on the occasion of the National Day celebrations on 12 March 2016. The planning of his visit has been released by the Cabinet. During his stay, the President will, among others: (a) pay a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Mauritius; (b) meet the Prime Minister, and exchange Memoranda of Understanding/ Agreements; (c) attend the Flag Raising Ceremony at Champ de Mars; (d) have working sessions with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and External Communications; the Business Community, the Indian Ocean Commission, and the Indian Ocean Rim Association; (e) visit Aapravasi Ghat; and (f) lay a wreath at Le Morne.
