Greeting cards collection launched by Lions Club Curepipe

The Lions Club Curepipe launched last week a collection of greeting cards on ‘Paul and Virginie’ to mark the centennial of Lions Club International this year (1917-2017). This initiative stems from the project ‘Autour de Paul & Vrginie’ in collaboration with the Municipality of Curepipe which took place on the International Day of Lionism on October 8 at the Town Hall of Curepipe.

About sixty children from the vulnerable neighborhoods of Curepipe participated in the Reading Workshop. The activity focused on the legend of Paul and Virginie, according to the cartoon version of Shenaz Patel and the cartoonist Laval Ng. A drawing workshop around the same theme was organised for all participants as well. A panel of jury chaired by Laval Ng subsequently chose the three best drawings (including a third place exaequo).

The award ceremony took place on November 12th in the presence of Lions President Shalonee Gunness, MP Adrien Duval, Mayor of Curepipe Nathalie Gopee and cartoonist Laval Ng and members of Forces Vives, NGOs of Curepipe and Lions. The winners of the drawing competition are as follows: 1st Prize Parvesh Seeburn (Robinson), 2nd Prize Anastasia Travelly (Cité Joachim), 3rd Prize exaequo Laeticia Fangamar and Madisson Pouppos (St Esprit RCA). This thus gave way to the greeting cards collections in the context of the 100th anniversary of the Lions Club International. The pack of 10 cards (5 visuals of Paul & Virginie) including the envelopes is at Rs 200. In addition to the beautiful drawings of the participants, the cartoonist Laval Ng also made a drawing of Paul and Virginia exclusively for the Lions Club Curepipe. The drawing is also included in the collection of greeting cards.
