Established in 1977, Filmcity in Goregaon in Mumbai is one of the largest studio complexes in India. It was renamed as Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in the year 2001 to commemorate the founder of Indian film Industry Dadasaheb Phalke. 

Spread over 500 acres of land, the Filmcity is found in the heart of an ecological environment in Mumbai’s suburbs. It has a natural topography including hills, valley, flat open spaces, natural woods, and shrubbery areas.  

Moreover, the Filmcity has about 42 Outdoor Shooting Locations. It accounts for almost 60% of film productions. India produces close to one thousand feature films every year, including films in Hindi and several regional languages besides documentary films, short film, TV Serials & Commercials Advertising films. Every year, 450 films are shot at the Filmcity. Per day, there are around 15 shootings. Famous actors Amitabh Baachan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and others have been shooting at this amazing place. Amitabh Baachan alone has done around 100 films in the Film City. Famous TV serials like Suhani si Ladki, Ishqbaaz and Taarak Mehta have their sets there. 

On top to its natural scenic beauty, Film City has set up numerous outdoor locations like Temple, Helipad, Playground, Lakes, Dam, Bungalow, Gardens, courts and residential areas.
