The teacher was also awarded the best finalist by the 150 members of the audience which included the Minister of Education, Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun. Roshnee received two cheques of Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000. The President of Mauritius Ameenah Gurib Fakim was also present during the ceremony. According to the director of the British Council, Tris Bartlett, 48 people registered this year which is higher than what we receive in other countries participating in FameLab, although Mauritius has a fraction of the population of all other countries. This indicates that there is a large amount of interest and enthusiasm for science in Mauritius.
