Ex-Citigate pair launch Acuitas in Mauritius

Two former senior employees of Citigate Dewe Rogerson and more recently Newgate Communications have launched Acuitas Communications, with offices in London, Brussels and Mauritius. Former Edelman UK public affairs vice chair Simon Nayyar worked at Citigate between 2007 and 2011, as did his co-founder at Acuitas, Samantha Seewoosurrun.

The two also worked at Newgate, with Seewoosurrun heading its Brussels office between 2011 and 2015, when they left to begin work on the new business. The Acquitas website has already been launched and marketing will begin for the agency this week. It has already recruited 10 staff members in place. Nayyar said that Mauritius firm’s office, is led by Seewoosurrun and located in Ebène - a location chosen by both him and Seewoosurrun.

They had both worked for an inward investment organisation in Mauritius previously. He also said the pair “recognise that the local market, and the wider region, has a need for high-quality corporate and financial communications consulting”. Mauritius is viewed as an important strategic access point to the rest of Africa, in part thanks to its tax regime.
