Drunken passenger at centre of bomb scare

A passenger travelling to Reunion island was arrested by security officers of Airports of Mauritius Ltd (AML) on Wednesday afternoon. The inebriated man found no better joke than to claim he had a bomb in his suitcase, scaring the brains out of airport personnel and prompting his immediate arrest. The Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed in and no bomb was found apart from his personal belongings which do not qualify as such. Going by the name of Mauritius Stéphane Georges, 46, the man was accompanied by his wife and son, on his trip back home. This French national is married to a Mauritian and the couple resides in Reunion Island. The family was on holidays since December 20, and lived in Rose-Hill. After his arrest, Mr Georges said his foolish behaviour was only a “joke”. During his interrogation on Thursday, Mauritius Stéphane Georges apologised to the police, he was released on bail.
