Dorine Chukowry joins MSM party

The former Mayor of Port Louis and former Vice President of the Women’s wing of the Mouvement Militant Mauricien (MMM) revealed in a press conference at the Port Louis municipality on Thursday that she has decided to join the Movement Socialist Militant MSM party.

She was accompanied by 21 dissidents from the MMM Regional Committee of Constituency No 1. Dorine Chukowry’s decision follows a meeting with the Prime Minister and Leader of the MSM, Pravind Jugnauth. “It is a turning point in my political career,” she stated. Last April, after she submitted her resignation to the MMM party, she explained that she did not get along with some members, namely Veda Baloomoody and Arianne Navarre-Marie.
