Dive into Mauritian culture at the Festival International Kreol

For its 11th edition, the Festival International Kreol in Mauritius will take place from 17 to 26 November 2016 at the four corners of the island. Ten days to vibrate to the rhythm of Sega and other Creole specialities, which are essential aspects of Mauritian culture and its different communities.

From 17 to 26 November, the streets of the island will live to the rhythms of the International Festival Kreol for 10 days. The annual festival is an open invitation to discover the treasures and traditions of the Creole world, full of colours, sounds and fragrances. Mauritians and tourists are invited to celebrate the Creole language.

Through the 11th edition of the festival, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and External Communications, Xavier Luc Duval, said he wanted to “promote Creole culture” and make this festival a “springboard for tourism promotion” inviting tourists to join in the festivities. French tourists, particularly fond of authenticity offered by their travel experience in Mauritius, will therefore be served during this festival highlighting the culture and language of Creole, “cement of Mauritian society” according to the Deputy Prime Minister.

Program: Conference on Creole identity, race, fashion show, jazz concert, ball, various competitions on “Sega Tipik”, slam, theatre, painting and Creole dictation and finally tasting dishes making the honour Creole culture during a food festival, etc. Thirty local artists and the Indian Ocean will be waiting for you to close the Festival on the occasion of a great music concert Saturday, November 26 gathering 100 to 150,000 people on average.

  • Saturday, November 26: ‘Printing’ Open Air at 18h
  • Saturday, November 26: Dictation Creole – Caudan Waterfront at 9 am
  • Saturday, November 26: Grand Concert – Les Salines from 18h
