Aged 19, Diksha Ramdin embedded the passion for painting since a young age. She reveals that painting has been her comfort zone whereby she could express herself. A dedicated and charming artist, Diksha finds happiness in her painting world. She envisages in turning this passion of hers into her profession. “The world of artists is just another universe where emotions are expressed differently. Through painting or an artwork, an artist can make people visualize things in a much better way.”
She confides that an artist has the ability to make things look more attractive and admirable. An artist can easily touch the heart of people with her or his creativity, she says. “As an artist, I am more prone towards making my contribution towards society, helping people and making them see the beautiful side of nature.”
A vivid lover of nature, Diksha believes in rousing the love for nature in people. “Nature plays a really crucial role in our life and it is our responsibility to protect it. I feel so proud that as an artist, I am able to invest in the safeguarding of nature.”
An enriching journey
The journey of Diksha may be short but it is an enriching one. At such an age, she has been able to gather many awards and recognition any young artist could dream of. Since her school days, it has been raining awards for her. These achievements motivated her more to continue following her dream. “My experience till now has been really enriching. Each day, I get to learn something new.”
Now as a student of the University of Mauritius/MGI, she feels proud and lucky. Despite the various challenges, she has never allowed herself to feel let down. One of her main challenges has been in terms of finance but recently, she got the SBM Foundation Scholarship, which has helped to ease some burden from her life. “I'm grateful for this scholarship, as my courses are being paid and I am also getting a stipend. I'm able to carry on with my studies without any stress.”
Diksha’s painting was exhibited at the Parliament house for the launching of activities marking the 50 years of Independence of Mauritius. Today, all these achievements through her journey render her proud that she is right to have chosen this field, as she is born to be an artist. “To keep on improving myself, I will make sure that I keep on interacting with others and learn from them. I also try to sketch daily a good habit to improve myself.”
