Dharam Gokhool : «Le pape François était un phare de lumière spirituelle, de compassion et de paix»

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que le président de la République, Dharam Gokhool, dit avoir appris le décès du pape François, survenu ce lundi 21 avril dans la matinée. Le Saint-Père s’est éteint à l’âge de 88 ans.  

Le Chef de l’État a tenu à rendre hommage au pape François : « Au nom du peuple mauricien et en mon nom personnel, j’adresse nos sincères condoléances au Saint-Siège, à la communauté catholique mondiale, ainsi qu’à tous ceux qui ont trouvé force et inspiration dans le leadership spirituel de Sa Sainteté. Le pape François était un phare de lumière spirituelle, d’autorité morale, de compassion et de paix — un pasteur pour des millions de fidèles. »

" It is with deep sorrow that I have learned of the demise of His Holiness the Pope Francis, leader of the Roman Catholic Church. On behalf of the people of the Republic of Mauritius, and in my own personal capacity, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Holy See, the global Catholic community, and to all those who drew strength and inspiration from the spiritual leadership of His Holiness.

His Holiness Pope Francis was a beacon of spiritual light, moral authority, compassion, and peace — a shepherd to millions. Above all, his tireless voice in favour of interfaith dialogue, social justice, and the dignity of all human beings echoed far beyond the walls of the Vatican. 

In honoring his rich journey and legacy, we must remember that true leadership comes from selfless dedication to reducing human sufferings, sharing love, showing empathy and nurturing unity - noble values that should inspire all of us to live together in harmony and peace. 

At this moment of global mourning, Mauritius stands united with all those who honour the lifelong dedication of His Holiness the Pope. 

I invite all Mauritians, regardless of faith, to take a moment to reflect on his final message — a heartfelt call for peace, understanding, and reconciliation among all peoples.
