Dhandevi Ramkhalawon and Ashwaree Sookdeb: Inspiring you to fulfill your dreams

Dhandevi Ramkhalawon and Ashwaree Sookdeb
Fascinating and beautiful, this is how we should describe a dream catcher. However, behind this concept lies a really symbolic meaning linked to spirituality. Originating from ancient civilisations, dream catchers are intended to protect people from bad dreams while letting good dreams go through. Inspired by this symbolic value, Dhandevi Ramkhalawon and Ashwaree Sookdeb decided to launch APAS. Let’s discover those two hard-working young women behind this brand new concept. While studying for her degree in finance, Dhandevi Ramkhalawon met engineering student Ashwaree Sookdeb at the University thanks to their common passion for social work. Being members of an association named AIESEC, those young women found a commom ground, their childhood dream. What started as a hobby soon became a source of revenue and their enterprise was born. They make customised dream catchers. “We believe that dream catchers are spiritual in nature and make your dreams come true. You have to believe in them to experience the magic,” they say. Like all young entrepreneurs, they had to overcome a few hurdles. But with hard work and determination, everything became easier, though it was a big challenge to align their studies along with their small business. The two girls create a variety of attractive designs which they advertise mainly on Facebook. Each creation is unique and has its own legend. The young artists are inspired by different cultures. Their attempts have paid off and they love what they are doing. Future projects Not only do they make their own dream catchers, from scratch till the end, but they are also planning work on new crafts like ‘ojo de dios’ which means God of eye. They hope this new project will be launched in the coming months. Moreover, they are also working on unique crafts for Valentine’s Day. Why APAS? The reason why they chose APAS as the name for their business is in the very definition of the word. APAS means water in Sanskrit. Water is still translated into APAS in some languages such as Romanian. “Water, when interpreted in the realm of spirituality, is connected to emotions and infinite creativity. Hence, directly connected to our purpose,” they say. Dream catchers are spiritual objects of the Native Americans. Myths have it that when you sleep, your dreams pass through your dream catcher. The bad dreams get trapped in the web and destroyed the next day by sunlight. The good dreams, in exchange, flow down to you, through the feathers… Readers can contact them on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/llAPASll/
