Décorés de la République : le cardinal Piat reçoit la plus haute distinction de l’Etat

La liste des décorés à l’occasion des 25 ans de la République a été rendue publique ce dimanche 12 mars. La plus haute distinction de l’Etat a été attribuée au cardinal Maurice E. Piat. Il a été fait «Grand Commander of The Order of The Star and Key of The Indian Ocean» (GCSK) pour sa contribution «in religious and social fields».

Maurice E. Piat a été élevé au rang de cardinal le 19 novembre lors du consistoire à la place Saint-Pierre au Vatican, devenant ainsi le second cardinal mauricien après feu cardinal Jean Margéot, décédé le 17 juillet 2009.

Ils sont quatre à être faits Grand Officer of the Order of The Order of The Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (GOSK) : l’avocat Désiré Basset pour sa contribution au domaine légal ; Jaques Marrier D’Unienville pour sa contribution au secteur sucrier ; le Dr Oudaye Gangoo pour sa contribution au domaine de la culture ; Emmanuel Leung Shing pour sa contribution aux domaines légal, social et politique ; le Dr Jadgis Chundur Mohit pour sa contribution au domaine de la santé et feu Ismaël Valimamode pour sa contribution aux domaines politique et social.
