Anah explains that all started when Shaif who was initially playing bass with Rebel Scars decided to play more heavy music and hence set up red circle with the help of others. “A Circle is supposed to represent unity and their group’s teamwork and great understanding of each other whereas the colour red stands for passion, the will to fight and the quest for more. We can say that these guys are really here to kill it. Circle Red first started with basic covers such as Your Betrayal and In Waves. And with time they kept developing their potential to reach the point of writing their own songs. So far they have six songs all written by the lead singer namely We’re Back, The Ripper, Your Masquerade, Words of Silence, Vanity, Wolf of Thunder and Renegade. Their first live was in June 2014 at Caudan for AIESEC’s Global Village. I am in my current second year of my Law and Criminal Justice degree but has always been passionate about rock music and giving a hand with Circle Red doesn’t clash with any of my other extra-curricular activities or studies.”

So far, the rock band has been performing in the following events:

  • Awake 2015
  • The ressurection 2015
  • Rocktober 2015
  • Free art UOM 2015
  • Music festival celebrations at conservatoire François Mitterrand (2016)
  • Nou baz with lingers (2016)
  • Megashow 2017 at UOM (2017)

The main aims of the band now is to finish the recording of their songs and publish their first EP. As well as performing the maximum times live and host more concert in a spirit to help promote rock culture and awareness in Mauritius. They also hope to be able to participate in Porwli by Lights 2017 which promised to be grand!
